„Teufelsstein-Hike"

The chief of the forest district Goyatz
Mr Neugebauer has been working as district forest ranger for decades and is very familiar with the flora and fauna around Schwielochsee.


Location: Campsite „Ludwig Leichardt" Zaue at Schwielochsee
After a short tour over the campsite you will leave Schwielochsee and hike approximately 2,5km through beautiful pineforest to "Teufelsstein".

Subject: Guests learn about the formation of the biggest lake in Brandenburg (13,3km²) and the current ecological balance. Insights into the local wildlife and the responsibilities of forestry and hunt will be explained and the tour will be completed by the legend of the "Teufelsstein" in a romantic setting.

„Desert-Hike"


Guide: Dr. Heiko Schumacher
Head of the branch office Lieberose of the „Naturlandschaften Brandenburg" Foundation
Dr. Schumacher has profound knowledge of the history and wildlife of the Lieberoser Heide.
He is a leading figure in the development of the International Nature Exposition.

Location: Lieberoser Heide
Guests can use a Shuttleservice from the campsite „Ludwig Leichhardt" Zaue to Lieberoser Heide. (approx. 30 min.)

Subject: Guests learn about the history of one of the biggest former military training site of the Red Army in Europe. A unique flora and fauna has developed here after the retreat of the armed forces at the beginning of the 1990ies. An outstanding characteristic is the so-called "desert", a barely vegetated area of more than 2,5km². On the "Desert-Hike" we will follow the traces of wolves and sea eagles that have repopulated the area. Furthermore our guests can preview the plans for the International Nature Exposition in Lieberoser Heide.
